Culinary Mushroom Week in Georgia

We go mushroom hunting about two or three times before the first rays of sunshine. If you get up early, you have
better chances of finding mushrooms. Georgian mushroom pickers are up early. We collect
the edible mushrooms that we find, but the risk of not finding any remains. Nature and early risers
determine our mushroom success.

We are accompanied by Marco, who works as a mushroom inspector in Bern. He gives us important
Aspects of finding and identifying mushrooms. He is also a gifted amateur cook with a lot of experience in preparing the variety of mushrooms. The special characteristics of the individual mushrooms often determine the method of preparation. It makes sense to write down this diverse information and record it yourself. On
We shop at one of Georgia’s most diverse food markets to complement the meal around
about what was found in the forest. Participants can buy their travel souvenirs straight away.

For visitors to Georgia, experiencing the «Supra» table is a must. Participants of the Mushroom Week have several opportunities to do so. Be it at the Marani farm or in the restaurant of one of the best
Chefs in Samegrelo. This region is known for its tasty cuisine. Another highlight is
the visit and the tasting integrated into the meal at the small winery with an annual production of just under 2,000 bottles. What is unique is the natural method of caring for and growing the vines.
